Spring cleaning but make it skin
đż âSpring Cleaning⌠But Make It Skin (and Soil, and Soul)â
March hits and suddenly everyone wants a reset.
Closets get cleaned, routines get rebuilt, and somewhere along the way⌠people start going to war with their skin.
Let me lovingly stop you right there.
Spring isnât about force.
Itâs about growth, support, and planting what you actually want to see later.
And your skin?
She follows the same rules as nature.
Have you noticed a Pattern Where monthly is a do over. We didnât stay consistent last month so letâs try the exact same thingâŚ
Starting over is okay, but letâs take into account weather, ingredients we used last month, the progress that you made. lessons learned. We need to start building and adjusting not just starting over. Did we build our barrier or ruin it?
Now letâs figure out if we have found whatâs for us. Maybe now is the time to add in that active or take away. Did we find the right cleanser for our skin yet? No? Then start there. Do we have a moisturizer? Get it if not. Do we have SPF? Get it!
Once you have your cleanser, moisturizer, SPF we continue to build that routine with actives and serums that specifically are for you and you alone.
Here I have something called the âcore 4â it is only 4 products that give you the essentials that your skin needs. You donât need an extensive homecare.
đą Skin = Soil (Stay With Me Here)
You cannot plant seeds in dry, cracked, nutrient-depleted soil and expect a thriving garden.
Same with your skin.
If your barrier is compromised, dehydrated, or inflamed:
Breakouts linger
Pigmentation worsens
Nothing âworksâ the way it should
So before we talk glow, exfoliation, or correctionâŚ
We ask:
What are we growing in?
đ¸ Spring Skin = Support, Not Stripping
March is not your âscrub everything offâ era.
Itâs your:
Circulation
Lymphatic drainage
Gentle exfoliation
Barrier rebuilding
era.
Because real glow doesnât come from aggression.
It comes from functioning skin.
âď¸ SPF⌠We Need to Talk (All Skin Types, YesâYou Too)
Letâs clear this up right now:
Every single skin type, tone, and ethnicity needs SPF.
I donât care if you:
âDonât burnâ
Have deeper skin
Stay inside most of the day
You still need protection.
𧏠How Melanin Actually Works (and Why This Matters)
Melanin is your skinâs natural protector.
When your skin senses stress (like UV exposure), it produces melanin to shield deeper layers from damage.
Thatâs why:
You tan
You develop dark spots
Old acne marks get darker in the sun
But hereâs the part most people donât realize:
Those âsunspotsâ or dark spots?
Theyâre not just random damage.
Theyâre your body saying:
âHey⌠this area has experienced trauma before. Iâm stepping in to protect it.â
Melanin is intelligent. Protective. Responsive.
But without SPF, it goes into overdriveâ
and thatâs when we see:
Hyperpigmentation
Uneven tone
Stubborn spots that wonât budge
So noâSPF isnât just about preventing burns.
Itâs about regulating how your skin protects itself.
𧴠Physical vs Chemical SPF (Letâs Keep It Real + Simple)
Youâve probably heard this debate and thought⌠âwhich one is actually better?â
Hereâs the truth:
đż Physical (Mineral) SPF
Sits on top of the skin and reflects UV rays.
Look for:
Zinc Oxide
Titanium Dioxide
Best for:
Sensitive skin
Acne-prone skin
Post-treatment skin
Why I love it:
Itâs supportive, calming, and less likely to cause irritation. So, for everyone!
𧪠Chemical SPF
Absorbs UV rays into skin and converts them into heat.
Common ingredients:
Avobenzone
Octinoxate
Oxybenzone
Can be:
Lightweight
More invisible on the skin
But⌠not always barrier-friendly for everyone. Not my favorite.
đŠ Ingredients I Want You to Be Aware Of (Respectfully)
Weâre not fear-mongeringâbut we are being intentional.
Things I personally recommend being mindful of:
Oxybenzone (hormone-disrupting concerns)
Octinoxate (environmental + sensitivity concerns)
Heavy synthetic fragrances
Alcohol-heavy formulas (can dry + irritate)
⨠What to Look For Instead
Zinc-based SPFs
Non-comedogenic formulas
Added antioxidants (vitamin C, E, green tea)
Hydrating bases (so your skin doesnât feel tight by noon)
đż Herbalism + Skin: What You Grow Supports Your Glow

What you grow â what you eat â how your skin functions
Letâs make this fun and intentional.

đą The Bigger Picture
You can have the best skincare routine in the worldâŚ
But if your internal environment is inflamed, sluggish, or depletedâ
your skin will show it.
Skin is not separate from the body.
Itâs a reflection of it.
đââď¸ March in My Treatment Room
This month, everything I focus on is about:
Supporting your skin (not shocking it)
Encouraging circulation + detox pathways
Prepping your skin for increased sun exposure
Because weâre not chasing glow.
Weâre building itâintentionally.
đź Final Thought (Your Gentle Reality Check)
You donât plant a seed and dig it up the next day to see if itâs growing.
So stop doing that to your skin.
Give it:
Consistency
Support
Protection
And watch what happens.
If youâre ready to treat your skin like something youâre growingânot fixingâthis is the season to start. Your summer skin is already being decided⌠right now.
